The short version: We collect only what's needed to run the app. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. Your drink library and personal preferences are yours.
This Privacy Policy applies to Libations and any other apps or services ("Services") provided by The Rainy Day Company ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), reachable at contact@therainyday.co and operated through therainyday.co.
By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and the display name you choose. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information you choose to share. We use this to identify you, enable login, and allow features like sharing recommendations with other users.
The core of the app is your personal drink journal. We store everything you add to it: drink names, categories, ratings, tasting notes, photos, and your "want to try" wish list. This data is associated with your account and kept as long as your account exists.
You may optionally fill out a taste profile, including flavor preferences, style preferences (e.g., cocktails, scotch, wine), ingredient exclusions, and related settings. This information is used solely to personalize AI recommendations.
If you upload photos of drinks, those images are stored in our cloud storage provider. They are linked to your drink entries and your account. You can delete any photo at any time by editing or removing the associated drink entry.
If you use the location feature to tag where you had a drink, we request access to your device's location to suggest nearby venues. Location access is optional and only active when you use the feature. We store the venue names you select but do not continuously track your position.
When you use the AI recommendation feature, your text prompt and relevant portions of your taste profile and drink history are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. We store your most recent recommendation prompt for convenience (to pre-populate the next session). We do not use your prompts to train AI models.
We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregate usage data that helps us understand how the app is used and where we can improve it. This includes: screens viewed, features used (such as recommendation requests, drink additions, and ratings), subscription-related events (such as viewing the paywall or completing a purchase), onboarding progress, and sign-in method (email, Apple, or Google). We also collect basic technical information such as error logs and crash reports to diagnose and fix issues.
Firebase Analytics data is associated with an anonymous identifier, not your name or email address. We do not use analytics data to build advertising profiles. You can limit analytics collection through your device's privacy settings.
Standard technical metadata (device type, operating system version, app version) may be collected by our infrastructure providers in the normal course of operating the Services.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
We use a limited number of trusted third-party service providers to operate the Services. Each receives only the data necessary for their specific function:
Our database and authentication infrastructure. Your account data, drink library, and uploaded photos are stored on Supabase servers. Supabase processes data on our behalf and is bound by a Data Processing Agreement. Supabase Privacy Policy →
Our AI provider (Claude). When you request a recommendation, relevant context from your profile and library is sent to Anthropic's API to generate the response. Anthropic's API usage is governed by their usage policies and does not use API inputs to train their models. Anthropic Privacy Policy →
Our web hosting provider. If you access Libations through a web browser, standard web traffic data (IP addresses, request logs) passes through Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel Privacy Policy →
If you download the iOS app via the App Store or subscribe through Apple's in-app purchase system, Apple processes your purchase information under their own privacy policy. Apple Privacy Policy →
If you download the Android app via Google Play or subscribe through Google's in-app purchase system, Google processes your purchase information under their own privacy policy. Google Privacy Policy →
We use Resend to send transactional emails (password resets, account deletion confirmations). Resend receives your email address and the content of the email. Resend does not use this data for marketing. Resend Privacy Policy →
We use Google Firebase for analytics and crash reporting. Firebase collects anonymized, aggregate data about app usage (screens viewed, features used, general engagement metrics) and technical crash data to help us improve the app. Firebase does not receive your name, email, drink library, or personal preferences. Firebase Privacy Information →
We do not share your personal information with any other third parties without your explicit consent, except as required by law.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., financial transaction records for tax purposes).
You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Preferences → Delete Account), or by emailing contact@therainyday.co.
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@therainyday.co. We will respond within 30 days (or as required by applicable law).
Libations is an app designed for tracking and discovering alcoholic beverages. Our Services are intended solely for users who are 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If you believe someone under 21 has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and row-level security in our database. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States.
Our Services are operated from the United States. If you are located outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US or other countries where our service providers operate. By using our Services, you consent to this transfer. Where required by law (e.g., GDPR), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the app. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
